About the Role

Aanaab is seeking a Chemistry Teacher for its International School in Jeddah. This full-time role is for an experienced educator to join the South Campus, which is undergoing a significant STEM-focused academic and pedagogical transformation. The successful candidate will leverage state-of-the-art science laboratories and learning infrastructure to deliver rigorous Chemistry instruction.

Role Context and Reporting Structure

The Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for strengthening practical science education and embedding laboratory-based learning within the Chemistry curriculum for Upper Grades. This position reports directly to the Head of Secondary, who oversees day-to-day operations, performance management, and professional development. The role involves close collaboration with the STEM Director for laboratory planning and resource utilization, and with the Academic Director for curriculum alignment and assessment standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry instruction aligned with the UK Curriculum and examination board requirements.
  • Emphasize hands-on laboratory learning, integrating practical experimentation throughout the curriculum.
  • Utilize advanced laboratory facilities and resources effectively.
  • Design engaging lessons that develop scientific inquiry, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and experimental skills.
  • Prepare students for practical components of external examinations.
  • Drive strong student performance and pass rates in external board examinations.
  • Monitor student attainment and progress using internal and external assessment data.
  • Identify learning gaps and implement targeted intervention and support strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, assessment, and academic progress.

Laboratory Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to recognized international laboratory health and safety standards and protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate procedures for handling, storage, use, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory materials.
  • Conduct risk assessments before practical activities.
  • Promote a strong culture of laboratory safety among students and colleagues.
  • Ensure laboratory activities comply with school policies and regulatory requirements.

Curriculum and Academic Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Academic Director to align Chemistry curriculum delivery with school standards and examination requirements.
  • Coordinate with the STEM Director regarding laboratory schedules, practical requirements, equipment, and resources.
  • Participate in departmental planning, curriculum development, moderation, and academic review activities.
  • Contribute to wider STEM initiatives, enrichment activities, science competitions, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 3 years of relevant experience as a Chemistry Teacher, with a strong background in delivering IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry within the UK Curriculum framework. The role requires a commitment to practical science education and the ability to drive strong student outcomes in external examinations.
