Consultant General Surgery

About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant General Surgeon to provide specialized general surgery care within the ICC physical clinic. This is a part-time, in-person position based in Makkah, specifically covering Jeddah and Makkah cities. The role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of acute and chronic general surgical conditions, ensuring patient-centered care and continuity between sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, in-person general surgery care during scheduled part-time clinic sessions, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, and review of relevant laboratory and imaging findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including non-operative management, pre-operative work-up, and referrals.
• Manage common general surgery conditions such as hernias, gallbladder disease, soft tissue and skin lesions, breast lumps, and anorectal conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated, patient-centered care and ensure continuity between part-time and full-time coverage.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
• Promote surgical health through preventive counseling, timely referral, and the application of population health and value-based care principles.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development and EHR Proficiency

• Maintain and continuously enhance clinical knowledge in general surgery through ongoing professional development and CME activities.
• Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system for efficient and well-documented consultations, participating in ongoing training and system enhancements.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by adhering to established clinical safety protocols and delivering evidence-based care.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, empathy, and shared decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in General Surgery is required.
• Ability to provide specialized general surgery care on a part-time, in-person basis.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
