EDITION is seeking a Director of Engineering for The Jeddah EDITION. This full-time role is based in Jeddah and requires 5-10 years of experience in engineering and maintenance. The position is responsible for overseeing property maintenance, ensuring safety, security, and asset protection, and managing budgets and capital expenditure projects.

Role Overview

The Director of Engineering provides high-level property maintenance knowledge, with overall responsibility for maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant. Key areas of focus include safety, security, asset protection, budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to deliver products and services that meet guest and employee expectations while maximizing financial performance. This position also ensures compliance with standards and regulatory requirements and leads the emergency response team for all facility issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage engineering operations and budgets, including physical plant equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Administer service contracts and ensure the fire crew understands all procedures and equipment.
• Coach and support the engineering leadership team in managing controllable expenses.
• Develop and manage the Engineering budget and operating strategy, aligning with property/brand business goals.
• Oversee long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans.
• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and maintain property life safety systems.
• Manage profitability by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll reports.
• Participate in capital expenditure goal development and project management.
• Conduct human resources activities, ensuring fair treatment of employees, proper disciplinary procedures, and effective communication.
• Address employee problems or concerns and resolve guest issues.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
• Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major, with 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
