About the Role

Edition is seeking a Director of Engineering to oversee all aspects of hotel maintenance in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing high-level engineering knowledge, managing budgets, capital expenditure projects, and ensuring the safety and security of the property and its assets. The Director will develop and implement strategies to meet guest and employee needs while maximizing financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance of buildings, sites, and mechanical equipment, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection.
• Oversee budgets, capital expenditure projects, preventive maintenance programs, and energy conservation initiatives.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure products and services meet or exceed guest and employee expectations.
• Ensure compliance with all engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the emergency response team for all equipment-related issues.
• Collaborate with hotel and regional engineering leadership on budget execution and address areas requiring attention.
• Manage mechanical equipment according to standard operating procedures, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Execute service contracts and ensure fire safety systems are fully understood by personnel.
• Guide the engineering leadership team in managing controllable expenses such as wages, energy, and supplies.
• Oversee construction projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
• Maintain current and valid building and equipment permits, approvals, and certifications.
• Review financial reports, manage payroll functions, and participate in the budgeting process for areas of responsibility.
• Ensure fair and consistent enforcement of hotel policies and resolve employee and guest issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience in engineering maintenance or a related professional field, along with specific technical training.

• Option 1: High school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in engineering maintenance or a related professional field, including training in HVAC/refrigeration/electrical/plumbing technology.
• Option 2: Two-year degree from an accredited university in construction management, engineering, mechanics, or a related professional field, with 4 years of experience in engineering maintenance or a related professional field, including training in HVAC/refrigeration/electrical/plumbing technology.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, requiring active leadership in hotel engineering operations.
