The Role of Health Educator

My Clinic KSA is seeking a Health Educator to provide clinical advice and education to individuals living with, or at risk of developing, diabetes. This full-time role involves supporting patients in Makkah and Jeddah with necessary lifestyle changes, including nutrition, medication management, physical activity, and glucose testing, to help them manage their condition effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with diabetes, their families, and caregivers in gaining the knowledge, skills, motivation, and confidence to manage their condition.
• Educate patients on diabetes, including potential complications and its relation to other health conditions.
• Offer advice and support regarding lifestyle changes that contribute to diabetes management.
• Provide guidance on medication management safety, covering actions, timing, side effects, and the correct use of insulin therapy, including injection techniques and site checking.
• Educate on the self-monitoring of blood glucose levels, including proper technique and interpretation of results.
• Support goal setting and the implementation of strategies to achieve health objectives.
• Encourage collaboration among other healthcare providers involved in the diabetes care team, such as general practitioners, specialist medical practitioners (endocrinologists/diabetologists), dietitians, physiotherapists, podiatrists, optometrists, and pharmacists.
• Introduce, educate on, demonstrate, and install Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices and other devices like insulin pumps for patients on multiple daily insulin injections, aiming for significant improvement in quality of life.
• Maintain knowledge of the latest information and technology in the field of diabetes.
• Monitor and document patient progress.
• Perform other professional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in health education, particularly with diabetes management.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clinical advice and education on lifestyle changes.
• Proficiency in educating patients on medication management and glucose monitoring.
• Experience with Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices and insulin pumps is preferred.

Work Location

This full-time position is based in the cities of Jeddah and Makkah, within the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia.
