About the Opportunity

WSP Middle East is seeking an HSE Officer to join their team in Jeddah, Makkah, KSA. This full-time position will support an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project, focusing on maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Role Overview

The HSE Officer is responsible for managing the health, safety, and environmental arrangements across the project. This involves ensuring that all operations align with the WSP HSEQ Management System, legal requirements, and client specifications to safeguard personnel and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project health, safety, and environmental arrangements in line with the WSP HSEQ Management System requirements.
  • Oversee HSE Inspectors to monitor the implementation of health and safety arrangements at project site level, ensuring compliance with legal and client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including induction and safe working practices.
  • Review and approve contractor’s health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements before work commences.
  • Plan and conduct daily morning site visits across project sites to ensure health and safety measures are in place.
  • Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
  • Organise HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
  • Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are conducted as per the project schedule and performance standards.
  • Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports, confirm completion, identify corrective actions, and ensure closure to prevent recurrence, providing technical guidance for accident prevention.
  • Conduct regular site safety reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role.
  • Preferably, experience within the construction or engineering industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly relevant to the Middle East region.
