About the Role

AbbVie is seeking a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) for Immunology Dermatology, a full-time position based in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is field-based and focuses on scientific engagement with stakeholders including research and healthcare professionals, payers, and healthcare providers (HCPs). The MSL serves as a key member of the affiliate medical department, primarily interacting with and supporting the needs of External Experts (EEs).

Role Purpose and Scope

The MSL communicates scientific information and facilitates dialogue regarding AbbVie’s marketed products, compounds in development, and related disease states. All interactions are conducted in a strictly scientific, non-promotional manner, adhering to national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, AbbVie’s policies, and best practices. This role enhances AbbVie's scientific credibility through dialogue and collaborations, including facilitating requests for scientific and medical information. MSLs also support the initiation, oversight, and follow-up of clinical studies and medical projects within the Medical Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent AbbVie Medical Affairs as a subject matter expert in the assigned Therapy Area and territory, building professional relationships with external experts/HCPs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external experts within an assigned geographic area, addressing their needs for scientific knowledge in the therapeutic area and regarding AbbVie medicines.
  • Develop and execute scientific interaction and cycle plans, contributing to cross-functional account planning.
  • Maintain AbbVie's medical and scientific presence in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives and responding to medical and scientific information requests.
  • Support internal teams, such as sales and marketing, by delivering scientific update presentations to enhance their expertise.
  • Assist in the initiation, oversight, and follow-up of assigned GMA studies and medical projects within the therapeutic area.
  • Provide support for prioritized interventional studies run by Clinical Development Operations (CDO) and act as a subject matter expert within the One R&D community.
  • Deliver scientific presentations to physicians and other HCPs, individually or in groups, with a focus on external experts.
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences, collaborating with internal stakeholders to summarize key data.
  • Offer scientific and technical support to external experts and internal medical teams for publications of scientific or medical interest.
  • Ensure all activities comply with applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies, and best practices.

Internal and External Interactions

The MSL will engage with various internal and external stakeholders, including In-Field/Brand Team members, Affiliate R&D personnel (Medical Director, Medical operation and Evidence Generation Specialist, Medical Managers/Advisors, Medical Information team/specialists, pharmacovigilance/drug safety personnel), Marketing and Sales teams, Market Access teams, Affiliate Brand teams, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, OEC, Area and HQ based Therapeutic Area medical affairs teams, and Clinical Development Operations and Global Medical Affairs. External contacts include healthcare personnel (physicians, nurses, pharmacists), participating research investigators, thought leaders/external experts, institutions, scientific or medical societies, hospitals, other healthcare providers, payers, and Local Regulatory Authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should be Saudi Nationals with 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field. The role requires a strong scientific background and the ability to engage with medical and scientific professionals effectively.
