Purpose of the Role

As Senior Specialist - Transportation, you will oversee the movement of goods, optimize freight costs, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. This position provides essential logistical support to clients and requires advanced knowledge of various transportation modes, including air, ocean, and trucking, to facilitate efficient and timely goods movement while managing costs and service levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the transportation of goods, including scheduling, shipment tracking, and managing carrier relationships.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing and ensure reliable service delivery.
• Analyze transportation costs and identify opportunities for expense reduction while maintaining service quality.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws to facilitate lawful movement of goods.
• Provide guidance and support to clients on transportation logistics, routing options, and regulatory considerations.
• Develop and implement strategic transportation plans to optimize service levels, minimize transit times, and reduce costs.
• Track and analyze transportation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency.
• Identify and mitigate transportation-related risks, such as delays, disruptions, and compliance issues.
• Leverage transportation management systems and other technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance visibility.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to transportation teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in transportation and logistics. Advanced knowledge of various transportation modes, including air, ocean, and trucking, is required to effectively manage complex logistics operations.

This role involves developing and implementing transportation strategies, building and maintaining relationships with carriers and vendors, and providing strategic guidance to the organization and its clients.
