About the Role

Amazon is seeking a Workplace, Health, and Safety (WHS) Officer to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves collaborating with the Site Operations team to implement company safety policies and ensure adherence to all applicable local and regional regulations. The WHS Officer will lead continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate conditional and ergonomic risks, fostering a safe and healthy environment for associates.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Standards and Policies.
• Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements and develop implementation plans for identified deficiencies.
• Deliver projects to Operations on time and to quality standards.
• Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to allocate resources effectively to high-risk areas.
• Ensure proper incident investigation and the closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliant equipment or processes and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks.
• Audit record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with global WHS standards and local regulations.
• Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure accurate and consistent training, auditing, and scoring methods.
• Lead and mentor safety associates within assigned facilities.
• Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable regarding their responsibilities under each policy.
• Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training, including trainer qualifications.
• Manage site PPE inventory and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure PPE compliance.
• Collaborate with facility teams to ensure preventive maintenance of all fire protection and emergency equipment.
• Ensure basic fire fighting and first aid training requirements are met.

Required Skills and Attributes

The successful WHS Officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations team and drive change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. This role requires an effective communicator who can convey clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to instruct and train Operations leaders in Amazon WHS policies.
• Strong understanding of local and regional WHS regulations and company policy.
• Excellent safety program knowledge, along with environmental and ergonomic understanding.
• Proficiency in identifying best practices and integrating them into standards for continuous safety improvement.

Work Environment

This role is part of the WHS team and reports directly to the site WHS Manager. The WHS Officer must be flexible to work in shifts, including days and nights, to support continuous operations.
