About the Role

Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Cluster Assistant Director of Sales for a full-time position in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to supporting the leadership of segmented sales efforts, which include group, transient, association, and corporate segments. The primary objective is to assist in implementing segment sales strategies, achieving revenue goals, and ensuring high levels of guest and employee satisfaction. The Assistant Director will focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships to meet property sales objectives and personal booking goals.

Sales Strategy and Development

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to ensure a clear understanding and effective implementation of the sales strategy for the assigned segment.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and sustainment of aggressive solicitation programs aimed at increasing business volume.
  • Work with the management team to create and execute a comprehensive sales plan that addresses revenue targets, customer needs, and market dynamics for the segment.
  • Support the development and implementation of both internal and external promotional activities.

Revenue Generation and Performance Oversight

  • Provide proactive leadership to maximize revenue potential, setting an example through personal booking goal achievement.
  • Recommend appropriate booking goals for sales team members.
  • Approve space release for catering to optimize revenue, particularly in the absence of a Business Evaluation Manager.
  • Analyze market information using sales systems and implement strategies to achieve the property’s financial goals for rooms and catering.
  • Assist Revenue Management in preparing accurate six-period projections.
  • Review sales and catering guest satisfaction results to identify and address areas for continuous improvement.

Customer Engagement and Relationship Building

  • Demonstrate leadership in guest hospitality, exemplify customer service standards, and foster positive guest relations.
  • Engage with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels, including during pre- and post-convention meetings.
  • Empower employees to deliver excellent customer service and provide constructive feedback on service behaviors.
  • Ensure the effective operation of a customer recognition program within the Sales department and uphold company and brand customer service standards.
  • Serve customers by understanding their needs, recommending suitable features and services, and fostering loyalty to the company.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with off-property sales channels to ensure property needs are met and sales efforts are coordinated.
  • Participate in customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to cultivate and strengthen key relationships with GSO Managers and customers.

Operational Sales Activities

  • Participate in sales calls with team members to acquire new business and finalize deals.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of booked business, including generating proposals, drafting contracts, and managing customer correspondence.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the property’s primary target customer and service expectations to offer effective business solutions before and during programs or events.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant sales leadership or assistant director role within the hospitality sector. The role requires a proven track record in leading segmented sales efforts, achieving revenue targets, and demonstrating strong capabilities in market analysis and customer relationship management.
