Design Engineer Roads & Civil Infrastructure (Mekkah)

About the Role

SYSTRA is seeking a Design Engineer – Roads & Civil Infrastructure to join their team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves supporting the planning and design of infrastructure and roadworks projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, practical design experience, and a solid understanding of local and regional standards within KSA and the GCC.

Role Context and Objectives

The Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for civil infrastructure and roads projects. This position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery from concept through detailed design phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications for civil infrastructure and road projects.
• Support the planning and design of roads, grading, utilities, drainage, and related infrastructure elements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design integration and compliance with project requirements.
• Review project requirements, design criteria, standards, and authority regulations applicable in KSA and the GCC.
• Conduct technical assessments and contribute to value engineering and design optimization efforts.
• Ensure designs meet quality standards, safety requirements, and project timelines.
• Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities when needed.
• Support the preparation of tender and construction documentation.
• Contribute to resolving design issues and responding to technical queries during project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in civil infrastructure and roads design.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical design experience in relevant fields.
• Proficiency in local and regional design standards within KSA and the GCC.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, within a collaborative team environment focused on delivering significant infrastructure projects.
