Senior Internal Auditor

About the Role

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join their team in Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This contract role is responsible for executing IsDB’s Operations audit plans to ensure operational results align with management plans and comply with relevant policies, procedures, and legal agreements. The Senior Internal Auditor will identify potential risks, evaluate existing control tools, and propose new ones to prevent or mitigate risk impact on business results.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation of the yearly Operations Audit plan and collaborate with the audit team to plan and develop operations-related audit activities.
• Lead or participate in the execution of the audit plan, reviewing management processes and internal controls to assess their adequacy and effectiveness.
• Examine and evaluate processes and internal controls within IsDB’s Operations units at the headquarters to ensure consistency with management plans and compliance with policies, procedures, and legal agreements.
• Review and assess the effectiveness of operational activities in Regional Hubs, including procurement, disbursement, and supervision.
• Determine the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management processes and recommend improvements.
• Provide recommendations to IsDB Management based on audit findings and discuss the impact of risk-related areas.
• Ensure the preparation of concise and informative audit reports to communicate findings and recommendations to relevant functions and senior management.
• Liaise with the IT Audit unit for collaborative audits utilizing data analytics, IT automated systems, and controls.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, including Senior Management and the Audit Committee of the Board.
• Conduct investigations of suspected internal fraud as necessary.
• Assist in special audit assignments or investigations mandated by management.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure effective implementation and adherence to policies, procedures, and controls to fulfill all relevant procedural and professional requirements.
• Stay informed of the latest developments, regulations, and leading practices in the field and propose necessary actions.
• Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of related business processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
