Design Manager

About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Design Manager for a full-time, project-based role in Al Ula, Al Ruzayqiyah Dist, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The Design Manager will support and assist PMC Senior Project Managers in overseeing Client-appointed Lead Design Consultants (LDC) on various development projects, covering RIBA Stages 1-4, in accordance with the PMC Development Framework scope of services. This role requires active and direct involvement, a structured and systematic approach, and excellent communication and reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce scope of works for tender documentation, considering existing Client Framework Agreements and the Project Brief.
• Oversee LDC activities, coordinate designs across project stages and elements to align with objectives, and monitor design progress, deliverables, and approvals.
• Manage, document, and coordinate design reviews, auditing designs for compliance with briefs, risk and value analyses, and production of deliverables in accordance with Quality Management and HSE Plans.
• Manage stakeholder design review and reporting processes, and compile Stage Gateway reports at the end of each RIBA Stage.
• Review design documents for unauthorized changes that may impact project time and cost, evaluate potential design changes, and assess impacts on time, cost, and quality.
• Assist PMC in ensuring LDC Cost Managers collaborate on cost estimates, value engineering, and constructability studies.
• Manage design processes, control planning and scheduling of design, and monitor progress to facilitate approvals.
• Oversee LDC compliance with Value Management requirements and implement Value Engineering exercises as instructed.
• Coordinate with the client and LDC to establish design workshops and progress meetings, ensuring minutes are produced.
• Assist PMC in ensuring RFP Scope of Work is complete before bidding, and that LDC prepares robust Contract Documents.
• Ensure LDC issues monthly Design Progress Reports, including sub-consultant activities. If no LDC is appointed, PMC is responsible for the report.
• Collaborate with LDC to identify, monitor, and eliminate design risks across various stages.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in design management roles, particularly within large-scale development projects.
