About the Role

ACWA Power, a developer, investor, and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants with a global presence, is seeking an Electrical Technician for its operations in Neom. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience in the field.

Role Objective

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar PV plants and substations. Adherence to Saudi electrical standards and HSE regulations is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV modules, inverters, SCBs, UPS, and transformers.
• Conduct SCADA monitoring, address alarms, and resolve field issues.
• Operate and maintain switchgear and protection systems (11kV – 220kV).
• Perform IR testing and rectify faults in HT and DC cables.
• Maintain robotic cleaning systems and sun-tracking mechanisms.
• Support the erection, testing, and commissioning of transformers, HT/LT panels, and cables.
• Review electrical drawings and coordinate QA/QC inspections.
• Lead commissioning activities in accordance with SEC and NEOM standards.
• Enforce LOTO and PTW systems in line with Saudi Aramco, SEC, and NEOM HSE protocols.
• Conduct safety briefings, drills, and first-aid sessions.
• Maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
• Supervise technical teams and ensure effective shift handovers.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for timely project execution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV operations and maintenance.
• Experience with robotic module cleaning systems and PV tracking mechanisms is required.
• Possession of a Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• A valid Electrical License is preferred, with transferability to the Saudi Council of Engineers being an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Mandatory: Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV systems (installation, O&M), proficiency in inverters, SCBs, UPS, transformers, and switchgear.
• Mandatory: SCADA monitoring and troubleshooting of DC field and communication faults; HT cable diagnostics (Hipot, Online PD, IR).
• Mandatory: Interpretation of electrical schematics and protection/control circuits; troubleshooting of CRP panels and protection systems.
• Mandatory: Knowledge of LOTO procedures and HSE compliance; coordination with internal teams and vendors; strong documentation and reporting for audits and shift handovers.
• Preferred: Inventory and spare parts management; experience in commissioning and compliance with SOPs, WMSRA, and risk assessments.
• Preferred: Participation in hazard identification, toolbox talks, and safety drills; understanding of Saudi Electrical Code and SEC/NEOM standards.
