Assistant Fit up / fitter

About the Role

International Maritime Industries is seeking an Assistant Fit up / Fitter to join their team in Ras Tannurah, Eastern region. This full-time role involves performing hull construction work within the & Dock area, supporting operations from initial construction through to launch and delivery. The position requires adherence to safety regulations and active participation in accident prevention.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute hull construction tasks in the & Dock area, ensuring work progresses until launch and delivery.
• Perform fit-up operations, accurately placing and fixing members or plates according to marking lines or symbols using tack welding to facilitate subsequent sub-assembly.
• Align joints and perform restraint welding after block setting to prepare for main welding work.
• Ensure all welding works are performed appropriately and to standard.
• Comply with all safety regulations and working standards, including the thorough use of safety equipment.
• Actively participate in safety checks and toolbox meetings.
• Perform assigned tasks within specified deadlines under the direction of the manager.
• Operate equipment after proper checks and ensure understanding of its functionality.

Safety and Compliance

• Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring cleanliness, proper lighting, clear passages, availability of extinguishers, and adequate ventilation.
• Organize working cables to prevent hazards.
• Follow instructions from managers and safety teams, raising concerns if safety is compromised.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in fit-up or fitting roles.
• Demonstrated ability to perform work after obtaining necessary qualifications, including proper welding qualification.
• Proficiency in reading and comprehending engineering drawings.
• Ability to work according to WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) standards.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Ras Tannurah, within the Eastern region. The role involves working in the & Dock area, requiring a commitment to safety and adherence to operational guidelines.
