About the Role

The Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant Officer to join the Finance Department at its branch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves managing daily accounting entries, performing account reconciliations, handling accounts payable, and maintaining fixed assets. The Accountant Officer will also support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Branch's financial records.

Role Context and Objectives

This position is crucial for the timely preparation of financial statements and regulatory returns, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) requirements, and applicable tax and Zakat regulations. The Accountant Officer will collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Head Office Finance, and provide support for internal and external audit requirements. Candidates should have 0-1 years of experience and a strong interest in banking finance within a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily accounting entries in the general ledger accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to the approved chart of accounts and accounting policies.
  • Perform daily and periodic reconciliations of general ledger accounts, suspense accounts, nostro accounts, and inter-branch accounts, and clear outstanding items promptly.
  • Process supplier invoices, staff expense claims, and payment requests, ensuring completeness of supporting documents and compliance with approved delegation of authority.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation runs, and periodic physical verification.
  • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other month-end adjusting entries.
  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Assist in the preparation and timely submission of the Branch's prudential and financial returns to SAMA.
  • Support the preparation and filing of VAT, withholding tax, and Zakat submissions to ZATCA, and maintain related supporting schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, providing supporting data to management.
  • Maintain complete and organized accounting records, working papers, and supporting documentation in line with the Bank's record-retention requirements.
  • Provide required schedules, reconciliations, and evidence to internal audit, external auditors, and regulatory examination teams.
  • Ensure adherence to the Bank's financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and segregation-of-duties requirements at all times.
  • Support the identification and implementation of improvements to accounting processes and controls.
