The Role: Accountant

Milaya Contracting Company is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time, on-site position requires a strong background in the contracting or construction industry and practical experience with Zoho Books. The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s daily financial activities, maintaining accurate accounting records, tracking project costs, and providing reliable financial reports to management. The role involves close coordination with project, procurement, administration, and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily financial transactions in Zoho Books.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and monitor supplier, subcontractor, and client statements of account.
• Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, credit cards, and project-related transactions.
• Track project costs, expenses, commitments, payments, and profitability.
• Review purchase orders, invoices, payment certificates, and supporting documents.
• Monitor client collections, supplier payments, retention amounts, advances, and outstanding balances.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, cash-flow forecasts, and management reports.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate allocation of costs to relevant projects.
• Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and project cash-flow monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi VAT, withholding tax, ZATCA requirements, and other applicable regulations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and other financial service providers.
• Maintain proper filing and documentation for all accounting and financial records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8–9 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Previous accounting experience in a contracting, construction, or interior fit-out company is required.
• Strong practical experience using Zoho Books is required.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or SOCPA are an advantage.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Good understanding of project accounting, job costing, subcontractor payments, retention, advances, and progress billing.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and cash-flow management.
• Good knowledge of Saudi VAT, withholding tax, ZATCA compliance, and local accounting requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and financial priorities simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

This role is a full-time, on-site position based in Riyadh, requiring a dedicated presence at the company's premises. The Accountant will work collaboratively within a dynamic environment, coordinating closely with various internal departments including project, procurement, and administration teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
