About the Role
Capella Hotels and Resorts is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role supports the Director of Human Resources in developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and develop premier talent, while also managing the daily operations of the Human Resources department and ensuring adherence to all hotel policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to team members to uphold Capella brand values and create a positive experience for guests and colleagues.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
- Assist in overseeing and managing all Human Resources department functions, ensuring compliance with hotel and corporate policies and procedures.
- Manage the recruitment process, including advertising open positions to attract a diverse candidate pool and ensuring visibility to internal and external candidates.
- Liaise with local authorities and external recruitment sources.
- Network with local organizations and professional groups to identify potential candidates.
- Facilitate interdepartmental transfers, promotions, and transfers to other properties within the brand.
- Oversee the selection and offer processes for hourly colleagues, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Partner with department managers and recruiting professionals for management positions, including hiring decisions and offer negotiations.
- Ensure strict compliance with key policies such as Sexual Harassment, Non-Harassment, Non-Discrimination, and No Solicitation.
- Ensure interviews are conducted according to guidelines, using consistent screening criteria and job-related questions.
- Verify that wages are paid in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and relevant laws, including maximum rates, minimum wage, and overtime.
- Ensure medical and background checks are completed as per brand Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manage Workers Compensation claims for colleague care and cost management.
- Educate colleagues on benefits packages and inform the HR team about available benefits and eligibility.
- Provide an overview of colleague benefits to the management team to enable them to inform their colleagues.
- Ensure the department has the necessary resources to administer colleague benefits.
- Assist in identifying drivers of colleague satisfaction and support managers in addressing issues with action plans.
- Monitor team member performance and provide feedback for improvement, recognition, and appraisals.
- Provide performance feedback through recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with HR assistance as needed.
- Take ownership of individual growth and participate in career progression and succession planning.
- Coach and train team members on all colleague-related human resource information.
- Handle complaints and resolve disciplinary matters, maintaining appropriate records and ensuring professional resolution.
- Maintain a professional image to guests, team members, and the hotel.
- Perform all duties with discretion, professionalism, and a pleasant demeanor.
- Coach managers on the progressive discipline process.
- Ensure development plans for individual departments and overall property management are in place, including documented goals and progress.
- Utilize an "open door" policy to address colleague concerns promptly.
- Ensure effective colleague communication channels are established and active.
- Analyze accident trends and report them to the management team.
- Monitor the work environment for signs of union organization.
- Report any issues, damages, or breakdowns within working areas and the hotel.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources Management.
- 5-10 years of experience in Human Resources.
Required Skills
- Competent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh.
