We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join our team in Riyadh. This is a full-time, hybrid role, primarily based in our Riyadh office with options for occasional remote work.

Role Overview

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will play a key role in expanding *****'s backend development capabilities. Your primary focus will be to build and optimize the server-side components that power our products. This position requires close collaboration with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver reliable APIs and infrastructure. You will ensure the platform is performant, resilient, secure, and capable of supporting rapid product innovation as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

The Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for:

• Building and maintaining RESTful APIs, including defining endpoints and implementing business logic.
• Designing microservices, encompassing service boundaries, communication protocols, and API contracts.
• Developing for and deploying applications on GCP GKE.
• Ensuring reliability by creating error-free, performant, and fault-tolerant APIs and services.
• Writing robust unit and integration tests to uphold code quality and test coverage standards.
• Contributing to production support, including troubleshooting and resolving incidents.
• Collaborating cross-functionally with product, frontend, DevOps, and ML teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• A relevant engineering degree combined with at least 6 years of substantial backend software development experience.
• A solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and sound software architecture design principles.
• Over 6 years of hands-on commercial experience with Python and Django development.
• Significant experience in API design and event-driven architectures.
• A clear understanding of applicable software engineering processes.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow and dbt is a significant advantage.
• Prior experience in Banking or FinTech is an advantage.
