About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Banquet Manager to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves directing and motivating the banquet team to deliver high-quality service, ensuring all event requirements and standards are met. The role focuses on operational oversight, financial and administrative responsibilities, and maintaining clear communication to ensure successful event execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project supply needs for the department, including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props.
  • Apply knowledge of all relevant laws pertaining to events.
  • Manage banquet operations to maximize customer satisfaction and adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain sanitation levels and manage departmental inventories and equipment.
  • Control liquor costs and manage banquet beverage inventory using detailed records.
  • Schedule banquet service staff based on forecasts and service standards, while optimizing profitability.
  • Assist the team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and foster growth.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Set goals and delegate tasks to enhance departmental performance.
  • Conduct monthly department meetings with the Banquet team.
  • Apply and continuously broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current event trends.
  • Act as a liaison to the kitchen staff.
  • Lead shifts and actively participate in the servicing of events.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Set a positive example for guest relations and interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Respond to and resolve guest problems and complaints.
  • Empower employees to deliver excellent customer service and ensure they understand expectations.
  • Strive to improve service performance, emphasizing guest satisfaction in all departmental meetings.
  • Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees to drive continuous improvement.

Human Resources and Training

  • Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety protocols.
  • Observe employee service behaviors and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor progress and lead discussions with staff regularly.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Review quarterly Meeting Planner Survey results and contribute to corrective actions to address service challenges, focusing on continuous improvement of guest satisfaction.
  • Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in banquet operations or a similar hospitality management role. The ability to monitor financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, is required. Strong communication skills are essential for providing clear and concise information to all stakeholders involved in event success. The role also involves identifying training opportunities and developing strategies to achieve departmental goals.
