About the Role

Boutique Group is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join the team at The Red Palace in Riyadh. This full-time role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing all carpentry aspects of the Palace, ensuring adherence to Boutique Group standards for optimum operating efficiency. The Red Palace, a historic landmark originally built in 1943, has been reimagined as an ultra-luxury boutique hotel, blending timeless elegance with contemporary sophistication. The Carpenter will report directly to the Chief Engineer and is expected to have 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on furniture, fittings, curtain tracks, and rods as instructed.
• Fabricate items such as shelves, benches, doors, frames, picture hangings, and stages.
• Operate machine tools including saws, routers, and planers.
• Cut glass and refit broken windowpanes; repair picture frames and glasses.
• Repair and fix ceiling tiles and plasterboard; fabricate and repair Gibson, GRC, Aluminum, or equivalent materials.
• Install and repair all types of door locks (magnetic, mechanical, and equivalent).
• Maintain inventory of knobs, locks, door hardware, and hinges.
• Ensure the care and maintenance of all tools, keeping them clean, secure, and in good working condition.
• Maintain cleanliness of the carpentry shop and all work areas, using protective equipment and leaving job sites tidy.
• Complete personal daily job records and time books accurately.
• Inform and update the Chief Engineer/DOE on problems and unusual matters.
• Be prepared to work overtime as required and perform assigned fire brigade duties.

Operational Standards and Collaboration

The Carpenter will work continually with engineering staff to maintain high departmental operational standards and interact with other departments as needed for specialized services. This role requires strict adherence to safety instructions, Boutique Group repair & Maintenance Policy, procedures, and SOPs. The individual will contribute to strategies for maximizing revenue, profitability, cost control, and utility consumption control without compromising asset conditions. Compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards is essential, including proper equipment use, PPE, and chemical handling awareness. The Carpenter is expected to provide courteous, professional service, respond promptly to guest requests, and ensure the highest quality, safety, look, and feel while working in guest areas.

Qualifications and Experience

• Associate’s technical degree in Civil Carpentry or a similar field, or equivalent experience of 6 years.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience is required.
• Authorized locally to work as a Carpentry technician.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Local market experience is considered an asset.

Professional Conduct and Development

Candidates must report on duty punctually and be well-groomed, maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, appearance, body language, and conduct. The role involves understanding and adhering to the Palace’s policy relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health, and Safety, and implementing emergency procedures. The Carpenter will also be responsible for predictive maintenance planning and implementation, cross-training in Painting and Polishing, and attending required meetings and training programs to stay abreast of industry technology.
