About the Role of Chief Accountant

Marriott International is seeking a Chief Accountant to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is designed for professionals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on the day-to-day execution of general ledger processes and providing support to various departments. The role involves directing accounting functions, including account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting, and discrepancy resolution, while also supervising other finance and accounting employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement assigned accounting work and projects.
  • Manage and follow up on Accounting SOP audits across all property areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State laws regarding fraud and collection procedures.
  • Generate accurate and timely reports and presentations.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to solve problems effectively.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify financial data.
  • Balance credit card ledgers and verify contracts for groups, performing credit reference checks if necessary.
  • Document profits and losses accurately and monitor applicable taxes to ensure they are current, collected, and/or accrued.
  • Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets.
  • Complete period-end functions and provide direction and assistance to other organizational units on accounting and budgeting policies.

Accounting Knowledge and Application

  • Demonstrate knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.
  • Possess knowledge of return check procedures, Gross Revenue Report, write-off procedures, and consolidated deposit procedures.
  • Stay updated technically and apply new knowledge to job functions.
  • Utilize computer systems and software for programming, data entry, and information processing.
  • Apply individual judgment to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, or standards.

Human Resources and Team Leadership

  • Support the development, mentoring, and training of employees.
  • Provide constructive coaching and counseling to team members.
  • Train personnel on account receivable posting techniques.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates through various channels.
