About the Chief Investment Officer Role

Aventus, a leading financial services business, is seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead and develop its investment function from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, senior leadership position requires over 10 years of relevant experience and holds responsibility for the company’s overall investment strategy, asset allocation, and portfolio performance. The CIO will be instrumental in guiding capital deployment, managing liquidity, and balancing risk and return across a diversified portfolio, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to align investment strategy with broader financial and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s overall investment strategy and asset allocation framework.
• Build and manage a balanced, diversified portfolio across multiple asset classes, including Private Equity, Fixed Income, Public Equities, Emerging Markets, Real Estate, and other alternative investments.
• Oversee liquidity and cash management to ensure capital is appropriately positioned for company requirements.
• Develop and maintain investment policies, guidelines, risk parameters, and governance frameworks.
• Identify and assess external asset managers, investment opportunities, and strategic investment partnerships.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad network of global and regional asset managers, private equity firms, and investment banks.
• Evaluate portfolio performance, risk, and returns, providing recommendations to the CEO and senior leadership team.
• Ensure the investment portfolio delivers attractive risk-adjusted returns while maintaining appropriate liquidity and capital preservation.
• Establish a robust investment governance and decision-making framework.
• Lead the continued development of the investment function, including building and hiring a high-performing investment team.
• Monitor global and regional macroeconomic, market, and investment trends and assess their impact on the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, risk, and investment requirements.

Candidate Profile and Experience

The ideal candidate will be an experienced investment professional with a strong track record in managing institutional capital and allocating across diverse asset classes. Relevant experience within financial services, insurance, asset management, sovereign wealth, pension funds, or other institutional investment platforms is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate:

• Significant senior-level investment experience within an institutional or financial services environment.
• Extensive experience across multiple asset classes, including Private Equity, Fixed Income, Equities, Emerging Markets, Real Estate, and Alternatives.
• Strong expertise in strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management.
• Proven experience developing investment policies, frameworks, and governance structures.
• A strong understanding of liquidity and cash management principles.
• An established network of relationships with leading global and regional asset managers.
• Experience managing and developing investment professionals, with the ability to build a broader investment team.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to translate investment strategy into measurable portfolio outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective operation with CEOs, boards, and senior stakeholders.
• GCC / Middle East investment experience is preferred, while international investment experience is highly valued.

Location and Work Type

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves close collaboration with the executive leadership team and requires a presence within the region to foster key relationships and monitor market trends effectively.
