About WSP Middle East and the Role

WSP Middle East is seeking a Commissioning Engineer-Power Plant to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves providing specialized technical expertise for power plant projects, ensuring the successful commissioning of complex systems.

Role Overview

The Commissioning Engineer will play a critical role in power plant projects, with a particular focus on Open/Close Cycle Gas Turbine installations. This position requires a proactive approach to anticipate and address potential issues, drawing upon extensive prior experience in testing and commissioning. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing technical documentation, overseeing inspections, and ensuring seamless integration across project interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise by reviewing contractor’s plans, procedures, and logic sequences.
  • Attend and approve various inspections and tests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to anticipate and mitigate issues based on past Testing & Commissioning experience.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in working effectively with multiple stakeholders within complex project environments.
  • Witness key testing hold points and maintain a comprehensive dashboard of onsite progress for different stages of testing.
  • Maintain continuous coordination efforts to integrate all project interfaces into a cohesive system.
  • Review Contractor/OEM commissioning procedures and commissioning test reports.
  • Review performance test (PT) procedures and performance test calculations.
  • Perform independent calculations to verify Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) data.
  • Supervise and witness commissioning activities to ensure compliance and quality.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess a strong background in commissioning engineering, specifically within power plant projects. Essential requirements include:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in power plant commissioning.
  • Proven experience with Open/Close Cycle Gas Turbine projects.
  • Extensive past experience in Testing & Commissioning, enabling a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in complex project environments.
  • Proficiency in reviewing technical documentation, procedures, and calculations.

Project Focus and Work Environment
