About the Role

The Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) is seeking a Compliance Officer to join its Compliance Department at the Saudi Arabia Branch in Riyadh. This full-time role focuses on ensuring the Branch's adherence to regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions compliance, and internal policies. The position requires 2-5 years of experience.

Role Context and Impact

This role is central to maintaining the Branch's full alignment with Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) regulations, applicable laws, and internal procedures. The Compliance Officer will support the implementation of new regulatory requirements, assist in preparing regulatory submissions, and collaborate with various functions to foster a strong compliance culture across the Branch. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical judgment, integrity, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor regulatory developments from SAMA and other authorities, assess their impact, and support timely implementation.
  • Maintain the Branch's regulatory obligations register and track implementation status with relevant departments.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and submitting regulatory reports, returns, and correspondence to SAMA.
  • Support the execution of the annual compliance monitoring and testing plan, document findings, and follow up on remediation.
  • Support AML/CFT and sanctions compliance activities, including KYC, customer due diligence, name screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity escalation.
  • Review and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and Head Office standards.
  • Review new products, services, and third-party arrangements from a regulatory compliance perspective and provide written opinions.
  • Assist in conducting compliance risk assessments and maintaining the compliance risk register.
  • Support the delivery of compliance and AML awareness training and maintain related records.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, and regulatory examination teams, by providing requested documentation.
  • Support the handling of customer complaints, ensuring resolution within regulatory timeframes.
  • Prepare periodic compliance reports, dashboards, and management information for senior management and Head Office.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential compliance records in line with the Bank's record-retention requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional experience.
  • Sound analytical judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • High integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated banking environment.
  • Familiarity with SAMA regulations and instructions, and with AML/CFT laws and implementing regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is an advantage.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based at the Trade Bank of Iraq's Branch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, operating within a highly regulated banking environment.
