Conservation Senior Manager

About the Role

Asaan | آسان is seeking a Conservation Senior Manager specializing in Objects and Textiles to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for the daily delivery of conservation services for the organization's collections, ensuring their maintenance, conservation, and availability for various stakeholders. The Senior Manager will work under the direction of the Collections Care Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the collections care and conservation strategy and manage the day-to-day conservation work program.
• Undertake conservation and preservation work and advise on the development of collection policies and procedures.
• Provide conservation and maintenance support for all collections, ensuring their integrity and security.
• Support the development and implementation of a strategic plan for collections care and conservation, identifying new areas for development and monitoring performance against objectives.
• Manage and direct the Collection Conservation team, fostering a collaborative environment, conducting performance evaluations, and providing professional development opportunities.
• Encourage and support research and scholarship related to the collections, collaborating with academic institutions and presenting findings.
• Support public programs and exhibitions, working with education and outreach teams to create engaging content and representing the institution at events.
• Support the Collections Care Director in identifying funding opportunities, cultivating donor relationships, and preparing grant applications.
• Assist in developing and managing the Collections Care budget, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring financial accountability for conservation activities.
• Support the implementation of a Disaster Response Plan and undertake regular risk assessments and environmental control audits.
• Ensure all collection care activities are recorded in the CMS and that staff are trained in its use for documentation.
• Manage daily operations of the conservation team and facilities, ensuring compliance and a safe environment.
• Work with the Collections Care Director to establish and implement long-term storage solutions, including off-site facilities and high-density storage optimization.
• Liaise with operational teams to ensure building infrastructure supports preservation standards.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in conservation management, specifically with objects and textiles. The role requires a strong understanding of collection care strategies, preservation techniques, and team leadership.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involving collaboration with various internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve conservation objectives.
