About Bechtel Corporation and Expo 2030 Riyadh

Bechtel Corporation is managing the infrastructure program for Expo 2030 Riyadh, a global platform scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031. This event, themed “Foresight for Tomorrow,” focuses on sustainable development, innovation, and transformative thinking, expecting over 40 million visits. The project involves a 6 km2 Masterplan for participation and infrastructure, including early works, utilities, and public spaces. Bechtel's scope will transition into a mixed-use legacy development after the six-month event.

Role Summary

The Construction Engineer Civil will provide essential construction support for the Expo 2030 Riyadh project. This full-time role, based in Riyadh, involves work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification, safety and quality control, technical inspection, and system turnover coordination. The position requires 5-10 years of experience and aims to ensure construction activities are safe, complete, and compliant with quality standards and project requirements. This advertisement is provisional, subject to project approval and formal selection processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Coordinate engineering or construction problems with the Senior Construction Engineer and/or Construction Manager.
  • Identify construction quality, safety, and schedule issues and report them to the responsible Construction Manager.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure works are performed safely and compliantly.
  • Interpret design engineering drawings and ensure contractor compliance, including temporary facilities, field sketches, and "as-built" drawing preparation.
  • Review design drawings, study interference problems, and review related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
  • Review estimated quantities and material takeoffs for field purchases submitted by the contractor and report discrepancies.
  • Assist in coordinating vendor material deliveries, material storage, expediting, and engineering reports related to the schedule.
  • Follow and ensure projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Review and monitor field change notices, extra work orders, and back charge notices.
  • Attend daily/weekly coordination and progress meetings with the Contractor.
  • Collaborate and compile daily reports for submission to the Senior Construction Engineer and Construction Manager.
  • Review Method Statements and safety submittals for Safe Systems of Work procedures.
  • Assist the Senior Construction Engineer/Construction Manager with interface and stakeholder management.
  • Maintain a zero-accident policy on site with the contractor through regular participation in and audit of clients' health and safety programs.
  • Monitor installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.

Work Environment and Schedule

The project demands a dynamic work schedule, with operations running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Construction Engineer Civil will be required to work night shifts and weekends to support project delivery. This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in construction engineering, particularly within civil projects. The role demands a strong understanding of construction methods, quality control, safety protocols, and project coordination.
