This role is integral to the Expo 2030 Riyadh project, a major global initiative set to promote sustainable development, innovation, and transformative thinking. Scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031, the event anticipates over 40 million visits. Bechtel is responsible for managing the comprehensive infrastructure program for the 6 km2 Masterplan, encompassing early works, utilities, and public spaces, with a planned transition into a mixed-use legacy development post-event. The project's master plan adheres to international sustainability standards for urban afforestation, treated water, and energy sources.

The Role of Construction Engineer

As a Construction Engineer for the Expo 2030 Riyadh project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, you will provide essential full-time construction support. Your primary focus will involve work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection, and coordination of system turnover. This position is crucial for ensuring that all construction activities are executed safely, completely, and in full conformance with quality standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Coordinate engineering or construction problems with the Senior Construction Engineer and/or Construction Manager.
  • Identify construction quality, safety, and schedule issues and report them to the responsible Construction Manager.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure works are performed in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Interpret design engineering drawings, ensure contractor compliance with issued construction drawings, including Temporary Construction Facilities and Field sketches of revisions and additions, and prepare "as-built" drawings.
  • Review design drawings, study interference problems, and review related vendor drawings and installation instructions.
  • Review estimating quantities and material takeoffs of field purchases submitted by the contractor and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Assist in coordinating vendor material deliveries, material storage, expediting, and engineering reports related to the schedule.
  • Follow and ensure projections and schedules for manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Review and stay informed on field change notices, extra work orders, and back charge notices.
  • Attend daily/weekly coordination and progress meetings with the Contractor.
  • Collaborate and compile daily reports for submission to the Senior Construction Engineer and Construction Manager.
  • Review Method Statements and safety submittals for Safe Systems of Work procedures.
  • Assist the Senior Construction Engineer/Construction Manager with interface and stakeholder management.
  • Maintain a zero-accident policy on site with the contractor through regular participation in and audit of clients' health and safety programs.
  • Monitor installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.

Required Qualifications and Attributes
