About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant Family Medicine to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience and focuses on providing comprehensive medical care to adult and pediatric patients within telemedicine settings, with a primary emphasis on diabetology. The consultant will lead the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of diabetes and related metabolic disorders, alongside a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions, applying population health and value-based care principles.

Patient Care and Management

  • Deliver comprehensive telemedicine care, including virtual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for diabetes, metabolic disorders, and other acute and chronic conditions.
  • Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, encompassing medical history, virtual physical assessment, medication review, diabetes risk assessment, and interpretation of diagnostic findings.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, focusing on glycemic optimization, medication, lifestyle modification, preventive care, and specialist referrals when indicated.
  • Manage patients with various types of diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, and other metabolic conditions, actively preventing and managing related complications.
  • Promote preventive care, chronic disease management, population health, and value-based care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and optimize healthcare resource utilization.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Adhere to all relevant medical regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards for telehealth practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and clinical audits to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Regularly review compliance protocols, participate in training sessions, and collaborate with compliance officers to ensure all practices meet regulatory standards.
  • Prepare accurate and complete reports for audits and inspections, staying updated on changes in healthcare regulations and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain compliance with all patient safety standards, report any patient safety risks or issues, and practice safe medicine to ensure no patient harm.

Telehealth Operations and Documentation

  • Utilize digital health technologies, including remote patient monitoring and telemedicine platforms, to provide safe, high-quality virtual care.
  • Maintain proficiency in the designated telehealth platform, including video conferencing, secure messaging, and electronic health records (EHR) integration.
  • Actively participate in training programs and stay updated on platform enhancements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT support to troubleshoot any technical issues and ensure seamless operation.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and timely clinical documentation.

Professional Growth and Team Collaboration

  • Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills in family medicine, with a focus on diabetology, in-person, and telehealth best practices.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and online courses, staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in diabetology and telehealth technology.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including endocrinologists, dietitians, and pharmacists, to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Share insights and recommendations to support patient-centered care approaches and facilitate communication between team members regarding patient status and needs.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide training on clinical protocols to support overall team development.

Patient Experience

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear and concise explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain satisfactory patient consultations through empathetic communication, thorough history-taking, understanding of patient conditions, and clear explanation of diagnosis and proposed management plans.
  • Explain medications, possible side effects, and proper use to patients, and answer patient queries comprehensively.
  • Monitor patient feedback and address concerns promptly, utilizing patient satisfaction surveys to gather insights for continuous improvement.
