Data Engineer

About the Role

Datamatics Technologies is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves building, configuring, and optimizing data ingestion, transformation, and consumption workloads on a modern on-premises lakehouse platform. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with Spark-based development, enterprise data lake/lakehouse implementations, and Informatica-based integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Build, optimize, and maintain Spark-based ETL/ELT workloads.
• Develop and manage data models and datasets using Apache Iceberg tables.
• Implement and support data integration workflows using Informatica.
• Enable analytics and data consumption through Denodo, Starburst, and/or Dremio.
• Develop secure, governed, and scalable data pipelines aligned with enterprise standards.
• Support batch and near real-time data processing requirements.
• Implement data quality, metadata management, and validation controls.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineers on deployment, integration, and operationalization activities.
• Support migration, testing, and production rollout initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and optimize data pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this position should have 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role requires a professional with a strong background in data engineering principles and practices, particularly within modern data platforms.

Required Skills and Technologies

• Proficiency in Spark-based development.
• Experience with enterprise data lake and lakehouse implementations.
• Hands-on experience with Informatica-based integration solutions.
• Familiarity with Apache Iceberg tables for data modeling and dataset management.
• Knowledge of data consumption tools such as Denodo, Starburst, and/or Dremio.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a team to deliver robust data solutions and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
