About the Role

TawanTech is seeking a Data Modeler / Big Data Engineer to join our team in Riyadh Province, specifically in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to designing scalable data architectures and providing essential support for a bank’s enterprise data platform, analytics capabilities, and digital transformation initiatives.

Role Context and Impact

The successful candidate will play a critical part in shaping robust data environments that underpin strategic banking operations. This involves contributing to the modernization and efficiency of data infrastructure, ensuring it meets the demands of advanced analytics and evolving digital services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise data models specifically for banking data domains.
• Develop and manage Data Lake and Big Data environments.
• Build scalable data solutions utilizing Cloudera and Hadoop ecosystems.
• Implement and manage Apache Iceberg tables and associated data architectures.
• Support data governance, metadata management, and data quality initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with data engineering, analytics, and business teams.
• Optimize data performance and scalability across platforms.

Required Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling and big data engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP).
• Experience with Hadoop ecosystem technologies, including Hive, HDFS, Spark, and Impala.
• Hands-on experience with Data Lakes and Apache Iceberg.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience with enterprise data architecture and governance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector.
• Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and modern lakehouse architectures.
