Job Description

Director Corporate Strategy

Mindfield Resources is seeking a Director Corporate Strategy for a leading conglomerate client based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires over 10 years of experience and is central to establishing a unified strategic framework across diverse business units, primarily focused on real estate, construction, and industrial sectors.

The Strategic Mandate

The client's various businesses have historically operated independently, each with its own plans and reporting cycles. This structure has led to individual units appearing successful on their own terms, yet group capital allocation has not been optimized. This role is critical for building a centralized function designed to provide a unified framework, robust governance, and performance discipline. The objective is to offer the Chairman and Board a single, cohesive view of all businesses, despite their diverse nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Challenge business performance where necessary to ensure alignment with group objectives.
  • Evaluate growth and investment opportunities using a common return basis across all units.
  • Track the actual execution of strategic initiatives, moving beyond reported progress.
  • Contribute significantly to capital allocation decisions and the overall group plan, influencing key decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in building or rebuilding a Group Strategy, Corporate Development, or Performance function within a diversified group, holding company, or investment platform. This is a multi-business role, not a scaled-up single-P&L strategy position.
  • Professional history demonstrating real-asset exposure, specifically in real estate or industrial sectors, ideally both. The role involves developing a comparison framework that accounts for differing return cycles of these assets while providing accurate insights to the Board.
  • Operating experience within the GCC region and a practical understanding of governance dynamics within family-controlled groups, acknowledging that these often differ from theoretical models.

Essential Leadership Attributes

This role operates without direct line authority, requiring a high degree of executive maturity and influencing skills. The successful candidate will engage with business units that have been self-governing for two decades, now tasked with providing and justifying their performance metrics. The initial year will involve numerous conversations, many of which may require sensitive and strategic communication.

Application Process

Candidates meeting the specified qualifications are invited to apply for this strategic leadership position.
