Job Description

About the EHS Officer Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an EHS Officer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 0-1 years of experience and offers an opportunity to contribute to the health, safety, and environmental standards on project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare all EHS-related documentation, including EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
  • Attend EHS meetings with clients and project teams, and report EHS issues to Head Office.
  • Conduct EHS induction training for new workers and deliver weekly toolbox talks to promote EHS awareness.
  • Perform daily EHS inspections for assigned zones and ensure safe work permits are obtained by engineers and supervisors.
  • Conduct site-wide risk assessments, identifying and reporting high-risk areas to relevant parties.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Verify the good working condition of equipment such as ladders and scaffoldings.
  • Monitor and ensure satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers, including access to water, rest areas, and adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Conduct Job EHS Analysis for high-risk activities to minimize hazards.
  • Encourage the implementation of EHS practices among workers and engineers.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents with engineers, communicating findings for future precautions.
  • Administer first-aid and seek medical assistance when necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to all EHS activities.

Management System Responsibilities

  • Establish, monitor, and appraise integrated health, safety, and environment management systems, aligning with ISO-45001:2018, ISO14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards for construction projects.
  • Improve procedure manuals and conduct internal audits based on these standards.
  • Conduct training programs on EHS topics for engineers and workers, including those organized by HR.
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities, ensuring method statements incorporate findings.
  • Prepare EHS Plans and Environment Management Plans.
  • Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party equipment inspections.
  • Prepare Emergency Preparedness Plans and conduct emergency drills.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Work Permit System.
  • Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures.
  • Prepare contract conditions related to EHS for subcontractors.
  • Stop work if unsafe practices are witnessed and promote a proactive safety attitude.
  • Conduct monthly project risk management audits and quarterly system audits.
  • Provide EHS reports to the Project Head and IC Head regarding EHS performance status.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have 0-1 years of experience in an EHS role. A foundational understanding of EHS principles and practices is required.
