Job Description

About the Role

Egis is seeking an Engineer Implementation & Constructability to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on supporting the planning and delivery of a large-scale, mixed-use development programme. The Engineer will translate master-plan and design information into practical, buildable implementation strategies, working under the direction of the Implementation Manager.

The role involves developing construction phasing, site logistics, constructability input, contract-packaging support, implementation metrics, and risk assessments. These outputs are consolidated into clear, well-structured reports and presentations, such as the implementation/constructability report that forms part of the Detailed Masterplan (DMP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Review master-plan and design information for buildability, identifying conflicts, clashes, and construction risks early.
  • Develop and compare various construction methodologies, including top-down vs bottom-up, cut-and-cover, deep excavation with shoring/retaining systems, slipform/climbing formwork, precast/modular and off-site approaches, and heavy-lifting / SPMT operations.
  • Provide constructability input to designers and support value engineering and simplification of construction methods.
  • Prepare 2D (and, where required, 4D) phasing plans showing the sequence of assets, roads, utilities, and temporary works across the programme.
  • Develop sequencing and line-of-balance logic to enable efficient progress and timely asset opening, ensuring alignment with the latest project programme and design revisions.
  • Plan construction logistics, including laydown/land-take zones, haul and temporary construction roads, access and offloading areas, batching-plant locations, and crane/lifting zones.
  • Develop traffic-management and delivery strategies (HGV movements, worker transport, and accommodation needs) for congested, multi-contractor sites.
  • Develop implementation metrics over time using GFA, programme data, and regional benchmarks (*, GFA under construction, workforce, concrete volumes, heavy-vehicle movements, tower-crane and plant demand, and asset/key delivery curves) to support decisions on facilities, resourcing, and contractor demand.
  • Support the development of contract/work-packaging strategies, including the allocation of assets across contractor tiers and input on procurement routes (*, Design & Build vs traditional), identifying opportunities to combine or split packages for efficiency.
  • Coordinate across master-planning, infrastructure, utilities, roads, and mobility/rail teams, and between multiple contractors, to manage interfaces and dependencies.
  • Identify implementation risks, carry out qualitative assessment (probability/impact, pre- and post-mitigation), and propose practical mitigations and next steps.
  • Produce clear, well-structured technical reports, drawings, diagrams, dashboards, and presentations to a professional standard, consolidating the above into deliverables such as implementation/constructability reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Approximately 5–8 years of relevant experience on large building and/or infrastructure projects, ideally with a contractor, consultant/PMC, or developer.
  • Hands-on exposure to at least two of the following: construction planning/phasing, constructability/methodology, site logistics, or contract packaging.
  • Sound working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and site logistics on large, complex projects.
  • Desirable: Experience on giga-/mega-projects or large mixed-use developments (ideally in the Gulf region).
  • Desirable: Exposure to deep basements, tunnelling/metro, bridges, or heavy civil works.
  • Desirable: Working towards professional registration/chartership (*, CEng / PE).
  • Desirable: Master's degree in a relevant discipline.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D and GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) for spatial planning and phasing.
  • Programme literacy, with the ability to read and work to Primavera P6 / MS Project schedules.
  • Advanced Excel skills, complemented by strong reporting and presentation abilities.
  • Desirable: Experience with 4D/BIM tools (*, Synchro, Navisworks) and data-visualisation tools (*, Power BI).
  • Desirable: Familiarity with document/graphics tools (*, Adobe InDesign) for producing high-quality reports.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Coordination & Communication: Works effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple contractors, managing interfaces and dependencies.
  • Practical & Solutions-Focused: Translates complex design information into buildable, pragmatic strategies.
  • Detail-Oriented: Produces accurate, well-structured technical output to a professional standard.
  • Delivery Under Pressure: Comfortable working to tight programmes and managing competing priorities.
  • Takes Direction Well: Delivers high-quality technical output within a structured review process, with appropriate guidance from the Implementation Manager.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, offering an opportunity to contribute to significant development projects within a professional team environment.
