About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) is seeking an Evasion Senior Investigator to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves operating with minimal supervision to conduct complex, specialized, and ad-hoc investigations within the customs evasion field. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving operational targets and milestones for the assigned functional area.

Key Investigation Responsibilities

  • Review and develop Customs investigation plans, understanding objectives and guidelines to create operational plans aligned with ZATCA’s strategy.
  • Lead day-to-day investigation activities, identifying specific focus areas and setting investigator rotation schedules to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Assess and prioritize investigation cases, creating formal records within the system.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into customs evasions, fraud, and breaches using various techniques such as post-clearance, declaration, valuation, and restrictions, collaborating with internal auditors as needed.
  • Evaluate investigation activities for uniformity and standardization, recommending modifications for any misalignments.
  • Manage investigators' activities, ensuring compliance with operational plans and reporting findings for performance evaluation and corrective actions.
  • Analyze objections and appeals on investigation decisions, conducting re-assessments and settlements in adherence to policies and deadlines.
  • Prepare final assessment reports detailing findings and ensuring results are implemented in the system for future reference.
  • Consolidate and dispatch reports on potential trends and repetitive actions to relevant stakeholders, maintaining ethical and quality standards.
  • Develop performance reports for investigators, highlighting operational gaps and training needs to enhance investigation activities.

Operational Duties

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent work execution.
  • Provide support to junior team members and assist in resolving escalated problems to maintain efficient operations.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate personnel to ensure proper resolution.
  • Perform additional duties as requested to support departmental objectives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Train junior staff on various job activities to facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibilities, and monitor the workflow of subordinates.
  • Support junior staff and direct reports in executing their duties in accordance with established policies and processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. The position requires individuals capable of operating with minimal supervision and applying guidelines and procedures to complex tasks.
