About the Role

Mace Group is seeking an Expert Sports Architect to join their team in Riyadh. This part-time role involves providing strategic architectural expertise for significant sports infrastructure projects within the region. The successful candidate will contribute to Mace's commitment to combining construction expertise with consultancy to redefine project ambition.

Project Context

The Expert Sports Architect will be integral to Mace's strategic project management consultancy for major new build stadiums, multiple stadium redevelopments, and wider precinct transformations across Riyadh. The project scope includes the delivery of new stadiums, increasing existing stadia capacity, developing major mixed-use amenities, and implementing robust knowledge-transfer initiatives to ensure operational excellence and long-term sustainability beyond construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and design sports facilities, specifically for football, including stadiums, training centres, and other related structures for various sports grounds.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and other professionals to ensure project alignment with the needs of athletes, spectators, and the community.
• Ensure full compliance with international codes and standards, as well as specific sporting standards, including FIFA compliance.
• Oversee the construction process to ensure facilities are built according to design, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to meet their needs and expectations.
• Review overall design status with the design management team and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
• Apply a logical approach to mitigate complex design issues and effectively communicate solutions to the team and design consultants.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A degree-qualified architect with extensive years’ experience in sports architecture and stadium delivery.
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire high-performing teams and foster collaboration, innovation, and a positive project culture.
• Demonstrated experience in FIFA-compliant design and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Strong expertise in stakeholder engagement, design management, and value engineering across complex programmes.
• Proficiency in CAD/BIM software, industry standards, and sustainability principles.
