Field Specialist

About the Role

LanceSoft Middle East is seeking a Field Specialist to join our client's team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position requiring 5-10 years of experience. The Drilling Fluids Engineer, also known as a Mud Engineer, is responsible for managing drilling fluids operations at the rig site from the initial surface-hole sections through to well completion and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Forecast, order, and maintain drilling fluid chemical stock at the rig site to ensure continuous operation.
• Ensure drilling fluid is mixed correctly according to the drilling fluid program specifications.
• Maintain fluid volumes consistently to prevent operational disruptions.
• Manage fluid properties during drilling as per the drilling fluid program by conducting laboratory tests and recommending appropriate chemical treatments and practices.
• Maintain effective communication between the rig crew, client, and office.
• Conduct hydraulic simulations and provide daily reports and end-of-well recaps.
• Offer necessary support for all fluid-related activities at the rig site, particularly when encountering hole problems.

Work Schedule and Environment

This role operates on a rotation schedule of 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off. The position is based offshore, requiring travel to offshore rig sites by helicopter or boat. The work environment involves significant movement at the rig site, including climbing stairs and extended periods outdoors, outside of accommodation areas. Various technical and HSE trainings will be provided to support the role.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a related field.
• Proven ability to manage drilling fluids operations effectively.
• Strong understanding of drilling fluid programs and specifications.
• Experience with fluid testing and chemical treatment recommendations.
• Proficiency in running hydraulic simulations and preparing technical reports.

Location

This position is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with work primarily conducted at offshore rig sites.
