The Finance Manager Role
Gibson Dunn is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the finance function for its Riyadh law firm and KSA RHQ, including managing finance team members. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will be an active member of the Middle East and broader EMEA finance team, providing support and advice to other offices as required. The Finance Manager reports to the Head of Finance, EMEA, and the Riyadh Director of Administration for local matters, while also liaising with and taking instructions from the Los Angeles (LA) finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of Tax & VAT compliance for the Riyadh Law Firm and KSA RHQ, including preparing and submitting monthly/quarterly VAT reports, approving returns, arranging payments, and managing ZATCA queries and audits in liaison with internal and external tax advisors.
- Oversee the production of local Transfer Pricing documentation and manage Riyadh office partnership and Zakat tax payments, ensuring timely submission.
- Handle Riyadh office Withholding Tax Returns, including report generation, filing, and payment, in coordination with external advisors.
- Monitor General Ledger entries, prepare and review reconciliations for bank and key control accounts (payroll, VAT, WHT), and submit reclass journals to the LA finance team.
- Assist with Riyadh payroll processing, including net salary calculations, submitting monthly payroll journals, and arranging GOSI and SENAD deductions.
- Supervise daily checking of Riyadh bank accounts, posting of Accounts Receivable receipts in Aderant, and preparing receipt reports.
- Manage Riyadh office and RHQ cash flows, provide regular forecasts to the LA treasury team, request funding transfers, and control petty cash.
- Oversee Billing processes in Aderant, including pre-bill preparation, timely client invoicing, e-bill submission, and managing Edicom electronic billing system for KSA invoices, ensuring ZATCA compliance and Arabic translations.
- Supervise Accounts Payable and Expense claims submitted via Emburse, ensuring accuracy, VAT/tax validity, and compliance with firm policy, and manage approved payments.
- Monitor Law Firm and KSA RHQ Service Agreements, prepare financial and time reports using Aderant Expert and Excel, and liaise with the LA reporting team for complex reports.
- Participate in partner meetings, address enquiries, undertake delegated financial projects, and provide work cover for other offices as required.
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of KSA VAT and Withholding Tax requirements.
- Understanding of Zakat levy, Sharia principles and compliance, and local tax rules applicable to business expenditure in Saudi Arabia.
- Professional knowledge of IFRS accounts and the audit processes for professional services firms.
Essential Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a similar finance role within a professional services firm.
- Experience working with firms that have multiple branch offices (US preferred).
- Ideally, a background in practice such as audit or tax.
- Working knowledge of Aderant Expert or comparable professional services firm software is preferred.
