Job Description

About Lucidya and the Role

Lucidya is an AI-native platform for Customer Experience (CX) Intelligence, designed to autonomously manage entire customer lifecycles from initial engagement through retention and growth. The platform utilizes proprietary Natural Language Understanding (NLU) capabilities, trained on billions of multilingual conversations, to empower marketing, customer support, CX, and research teams. As Lucidya experiences rapid expansion across the GCC and serves a growing base of enterprise and government customers, the Legal & Compliance function becomes a strategic enabler of this growth.

This Head of Legal & Compliance role is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading a lean, high-impact Legal & Compliance function, owning the legal, governance, risk, compliance, and data protection agenda. This hands-on leadership role involves partnering closely with the executive team, managing a small internal team and external counsel, and establishing the foundations for Lucidya's long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Lucidya's legal and compliance strategy, establishing a function that supports business growth while maintaining strong governance and effective risk management.
  • Streamline commercial contracting processes across customer, vendor, partner, and public sector agreements by creating practical templates, playbooks, and processes.
  • Lead the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) program, ensuring certifications such as ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, NIST, and GDPR remain audit-ready through close partnership with Security and Engineering.
  • Act as Lucidya's Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with Saudi PDPL, GDPR, and other privacy regulations, and embedding privacy-by-design into products and operations.
  • Lead corporate legal matters across the group structure, supporting board governance, corporate administration, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and future capital markets readiness.
  • Enable Lucidya's regional expansion by leading the legal and compliance work required to establish new entities, manage local regulatory obligations, and coordinate external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Build and lead a lean Legal & Compliance team, balancing internal capabilities with external expertise, and serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years of legal experience, including in-house legal and compliance leadership at a technology, SaaS, or comparably regulated company.
  • Qualified lawyer with a strong foundation in commercial, corporate, and technology law; Saudi law exposure and understanding of the KSA/GCC regulatory environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a compliance and certification program (*, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or equivalent) and data protection compliance (PDPL and/or GDPR).
  • Hands-on M&A and corporate experience, including managing diligence and transaction processes, ideally with experience working alongside investors and boards.
  • Regulated-industry exposure, with experience serving or operating within public-sector, banking/financial-services, or telecom environments.
  • Track record of building or scaling a legal and compliance function in a high-growth company, and effectively managing external counsel within budget.
  • Pre-IPO or capital markets readiness experience is considered a strong advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Autonomous operator: Capable of running the function independently with minimal oversight, bringing structure to ambiguity, and requiring no hand-holding.
  • Commercial judgment: Balances legal risk against business velocity, acting as a business enabler rather than a blocker.
  • Governance rigor: Builds durable policies, controls, and audit trails that can withstand external scrutiny.
  • Clear communicator: Translates complex legal and regulatory matters into concise, decision-ready guidance for executives and the board.
  • Pragmatic and lean: Understands when to build in-house capabilities versus utilizing external counsel, and how to prioritize effectively under resource constraints.
  • High integrity and independence: Comfortable upholding governance standards and escalating issues when necessary.

The Impact You'll Make

The successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing a well-managed Legal & Compliance function with clear ownership and efficient operating processes. This includes streamlining contracting, ensuring timely ISO 27001 and SOC 2 renewals, and maintaining a robust, evidence-backed compliance posture. Key contributions will also involve implementing an enterprise risk register, core corporate policies, and a strong Data Protection Officer framework, significantly advancing Lucidya's legal and governance readiness for future mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, and capital markets activities.

Application Process

The interview process is designed to ensure a mutual long-term fit and typically includes:

  1. Initial conversation with Talent Acquisition.
  2. Interview with executive leadership.
  3. A practical case study followed by a panel presentation interview.
  4. Final interview with the CEO.
  5. Culture-fit assessment and offer stage.

Requirements

  • Requires 5-10 Years experience
