Head of Project Execution

About the Role

Yellow Door Energy is seeking an experienced Head of Project Execution to lead project execution across Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves reporting to the Group COO and leading engineering and project management for Core Projects, encompassing solar PV, BESS, and grid-connected energy solutions from pre-construction design through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the regional Execution team, setting priorities, standards, and accountabilities for engineering and project management.
• Provide technical and execution leadership from pre-construction and detailed engineering through construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Lead grid connection and Grid Code compliance across LV, MV, and HV systems, collaborating with utilities, regulators, consultants, and contractors.
• Oversee design assurance, constructability, and technical optimisation for solar PV, BESS, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Manage project delivery against approved scope, budget, schedule, and technical assumptions, identifying and addressing risks proactively.
• Lead or oversee technical and EPC negotiations with clients, contractors, and delivery partners.
• Monitor contractor and supplier performance, including technical coordination, site progress, issue resolution, and change management.
• Ensure strong QA/QC throughout construction, testing, commissioning, PAC, FAC, and end-of-warranty activities.
• Promote strong QHSSE performance and visible safety leadership across project execution.
• Collaborate with Development, Commercial, Technical, Procurement, PMO, Finance, Legal, O&M, and QHSSE teams to integrate execution requirements into project decisions.
• Strengthen project governance, reporting, delivery standards, and lessons learned across the regional portfolio.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong project execution capabilities combined with deep technical expertise in electrical infrastructure, HV systems, grid connection, and Grid Code compliance. This role requires a leader who can manage teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, technically robust, and commercially disciplined projects. The ability to operate effectively at both senior leadership and deep technical levels, particularly concerning grid connection, HV systems, and electrical design, is essential.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of experience in project execution within the renewable energy sector.
• Demonstrated ability to challenge grid, protection, and interconnection assumptions, working constructively with utilities, consultants, EPC contractors, and internal teams.
• Proven leadership in developing team capabilities and setting clear expectations and accountability.
• Experience in identifying execution risks early and applying sound technical and commercial judgment for resolution.
• Commitment to safety, quality, technical integrity, and disciplined project delivery.
• A track record of strengthening standards, governance, and lessons learned across a growing project portfolio.
