Infrastructure Operations Engineer

About the Role

Astek is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join a client's team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This contract position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and focuses on managing and supporting critical IT infrastructure.

Role Overview

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer will be responsible for the operational support and maintenance of server environments, virtualized infrastructure, cloud platforms, and network systems. This role involves ensuring the health, performance, and security of IT assets, providing technical support, and contributing to operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain virtual machines and associated infrastructure services.
• Assist with the day-to-day administration of cloud platforms and resources.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, and capacity.
• Configure and troubleshoot network devices, including switches and wireless access points.
• Support firewalls, load balancers, and other network-security technologies.
• Provide operational support for Cisco ISE, CCTV, and other on-premises systems.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access-related requests.
• Apply approved patches, upgrades, and system configuration changes.
• Assist with implementing cybersecurity controls and requirements.
• Maintain accurate system records, asset registers, configurations, and technical documentation.
• Produce operational reports and communicate relevant security updates to the Cybersecurity team.
• Investigate incidents, conduct preliminary root-cause analysis, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
• Liaise with vendors and service providers to resolve technical problems.
• Contribute to infrastructure handovers, knowledge transfer, and operational improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure operations, systems administration, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience managing servers and virtualized environments.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and general networking principles.
• Practical experience supporting switches, wireless networks, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar technologies.
• Basic knowledge of load balancing, identity and access management, and cybersecurity controls.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and IT service-management or ticketing tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently when required.
• Effective communication, reporting, and technical documentation abilities.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, Azure, or equivalent providers.
• Experience working with Cisco ISE and CCTV infrastructure.
• Background supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• ITIL Foundation certification or practical knowledge of IT service-management processes.
