About the Role

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer with 12 to 15 years of experience to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, office-based day shift role focuses on driving advanced quality practices, test automation, and intelligent validation for enterprise software delivery. The position requires no travel.

Role Context and Objectives

The Lead Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring resilient and efficient delivery of enterprise software that supports robust business operations and reliable customer experiences. This involves leveraging AI code assist tools, context engineering, and a strong proficiency in Java, Selenium, RestAssured, Cucumber, and TestNG.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive comprehensive quality engineering strategies by designing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks using Java, Selenium, RestAssured, Cucumber, and TestNG.
• Oversee end-to-end functional, integration, and regression testing cycles, coordinating test planning, execution, and reporting.
• Provide expertise in AI code assist tools, configuring and governing their usage to accelerate test script development and improve maintainability.
• Apply context engineering techniques to analyze business flows, data dependencies, and user scenarios for intelligent test suite design.
• Develop robust API testing solutions using RestAssured to safeguard reliability, performance, and security across service interfaces.
• Implement advanced Cucumber-based behavior-driven testing, collaborating on clear scenarios aligned with business expectations.
• Enhance test execution efficiency by optimizing TestNG configurations, parallel runs, and reporting capabilities.
• Monitor and improve automation stability by analyzing failures, refining object identification, and updating test data strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review requirements, user stories, and design artifacts to clarify acceptance criteria and strengthen test coverage.
• Provide quality insights through detailed defect analysis and root cause discussions to drive corrective actions and systemic improvements.
• Contribute to continuous delivery workflows by integrating automation suites into build pipelines and release processes.
• Mentor team members on modern quality engineering techniques, tool usage, and coding practices.
• Experience in the Telecom Domain is mandatory.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Strong proficiency in designing and maintaining Java-based automation frameworks integrating Selenium, RestAssured, Cucumber, and TestNG.
• Hands-on experience using AI code assist tools to generate, refactor, and validate test code while maintaining quality and readability.
• Practical application of context engineering principles to translate business processes into focused test conditions.
• Solid experience in Selenium-based user interface testing with a focus on robust locators, modular page structures, and data management.
• Detailed knowledge of RestAssured for designing comprehensive API validation suites.
• Effective utilization of Cucumber for behavior-driven testing, including writing clear scenarios and step definitions.
• Proficiency in TestNG features such as grouping, prioritization, and parallel execution for optimal test suite organization and reporting.
• Experience in billing and revenue management domains, understanding rating, invoicing, payment, and reconciliation processes, is preferred.
• Strong skills in defect management, test documentation, and reporting tools.
• Ability to operate effectively in an office-based day shift environment, collaborating closely with onsite teams.
• Commitment to quality culture, actively participating in retrospectives and promoting process enhancements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to explain quality risks and test strategies.

Recommended Certifications

Recommended certifications include ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer and Java programming certification relevant to enterprise test automation.
