This full-time role supports a leading automotive manufacturing organization in implementing advanced digital and automated logistics solutions across its production operations. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience in logistics systems engineering.

Role Purpose

The Logistics Systems Engineer will be instrumental in the business-side implementation of logistics-system solutions. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient material flow across critical production areas, including the Press, Body, Paint, and General Assembly shops. The position encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution alignment to system implementation, integration, testing, commissioning, handover, and continuous operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide logistics-system expertise, particularly in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM).
  • Lead business requirements gathering and ensure proposed system solutions match physical material-handling processes.
  • Work closely with IT application teams to define and implement required system functionalities.
  • Understand potential system and process failure modes, implementing countermeasures to minimize the risk of production or line stoppages.
  • Lead SAP EWM implementation activities for Press, Body, Paint, and General Assembly operations.
  • Develop optimal SAP EWM solutions based on operational requirements, project milestones, and implementation plans.
  • Monitor project status and report progress, risks, issues, and recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, IT teams, logistics vendors, and system integrators.
  • Implement logistics systems supporting different material flows and line-feeding processes.
  • Participate in end-to-end process User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Coordinate UAT issue identification, resolution, retesting, and closure.
  • Lead system buy-off, commissioning, and handover to the logistics-operations team.
  • Prepare and present project deliverables, results, and recommendations.
  • Support contract variation management and maintenance-contract sign-off.
  • Maintain complete system, testing, commissioning, and handover documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, ISO standards, and internal procedures.

System Implementation Lifecycle Management

The role involves managing the complete system-implementation lifecycle, including:

  1. Process confirmation.
  2. Business-requirement analysis.
  3. System-requirement definition.
  4. Solution-design alignment and review.
  5. Development follow-up.
  6. Testing and validation.
  7. Go-live preparation.
  8. Post-go-live improvement.

Required System Integration Expertise

A core aspect of this role is ensuring successful integration between various logistics and production systems, including:

  • SAP and SAP EWM.
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Pick-to-light systems.
  • Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
  • Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
  • Container transfer units and related automation.
  • Call-button systems.
  • Operational visualization systems.

Candidate Profile and Application Guidance

This position requires close collaboration with manufacturing, logistics operations, IT, equipment vendors, system integrators, and automation suppliers. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of experience and are encouraged to clearly identify the SAP EWM projects they have implemented, their personal responsibilities during each implementation, and the automotive production areas supported.
