About the Role

HCLTech is seeking a Mainframe CICS Operator to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on providing first-level (L1) operational support for CICS environments. The primary objective of this role is to ensure continuous system availability and facilitate a rapid response to incidents by adhering to established runbooks and escalation procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor CICS regions, transactions, queues, and system alerts to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform daily operator activities, including executing console commands and handling system messages.
• Oversee job monitoring and coordinate effectively with batch scheduling teams.
• Execute initial incident response actions, such as CICS region restarts and basic system checks.
• Utilize basic CICS commands (CEMT) for status verification and initiating/stopping actions.
• Monitor the status of files, queues, and transactions within the CICS environment.
• Coordinate with DB2, Control-M, and middleware teams to resolve issues.
• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) activities, including CICS region startup and failover execution.
• Escalate unresolved issues to L2 teams, providing comprehensive details and necessary logs.
• Maintain accurate shift handover reports and detailed incident logs.

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured by the efficiency of incident response and resolution times, the consistent availability of CICS systems, and the quality and timeliness of escalations. Additionally, the accuracy of shift reports and incident documentation is a key performance indicator.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Strong working knowledge of CICS and z/OS operations.
• Hands-on experience with mainframe operator activities.
• Familiarity with console operations and batch job monitoring.
• Understanding of incident management and escalation processes.
• Exposure to monitoring tools such as Omegamon or MainView is considered an advantage.
• Ability to strictly follow runbooks and standard operating procedures.
• 8–15 years of experience in mainframe operations or support roles.
• Proven experience working in 24x7 production support environments.

Skills and Work Environment

• Good communication and coordination skills are essential for effective team collaboration.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts to support 24x7 operations.
