Nextpower is a leading company in the energy transition, offering a comprehensive portfolio of intelligent solar tracker and control software solutions for solar power plants, alongside strategic services to maximize value for customers. Our global teams enhance PV plant performance through smart technology, data monitoring, and analysis. We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical/Mechatronics background to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
Role Purpose and Scope
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, optimal performance, and safety of all factory machines and equipment. This includes critical assets such as press machines, CNC and laser cutting machines, drilling units, tube mill and slitting lines, and their associated automation systems. The role involves leading preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all machines and equipment.
- Train, mentor, and support junior technicians and apprentices.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot faults in PLCs, control systems, drives, motors, and automation panels.
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime with minimum breakdown frequency.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to minimize downtime and optimize process efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Maintenance codes, company standards and policies, and factory safety guidelines.
- Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for electrical systems.
- Implement lock-out/tag-out, risk assessments, and other safety procedures during maintenance.
- Monitor critical parameters such as vibration, temperature, lubrication, and energy consumption.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Create and implement new systems and perform minor modifications to machinery.
- Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors for general building maintenance activities.
- Manage spare parts and communicate technically with OEMs and suppliers.
- Supervise and guide maintenance technicians and contractors during maintenance and repair work.
- Allocate daily maintenance tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to procedures.
- Provide on-the-job training and promote a proactive maintenance culture.
- Coordinate with production and QA departments to plan shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Foster teamwork, continuous learning, and accountability within the maintenance team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial or factory maintenance.
- Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting press machines, CNC, laser, drilling, tube mill, and slitting lines.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, and control systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with safety standards (*, OSHA, ISO) and energy management practices.
- Ability to participate in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and 5S initiatives.
- Capacity to propose upgrades, automation, or modifications to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
- Skill in maintaining accurate maintenance logs, reports, and equipment history.
- Very good communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, CMMS systems, and maintenance reporting tools.
Preferred Attributes
- Ability to analyze recurring failures and implement corrective actions through root cause analysis (RCA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work night shifts and respond to emergency call-outs as required.
