Job Description
Job Summary
The PAC Group is seeking a Manufacturing E Motor Process Engineer to join a long-term, full-time international project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This onsite role requires candidates to relocate and reside in Saudi Arabia for the project's duration, anticipated from September 2026 through December 2027. The position offers a competitive salary and package, along with a completion bonus, and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.
Role and Project Context
The PAC Group specializes in engineering consulting, program management, and operational excellence, supporting leading companies across automotive, aerospace, industrial, and technology sectors globally. For this project, PAC is assisting a client in launching an electric drive unit manufacturing line in Saudi Arabia. This involves the e-motor and inverter through integrated e-drive assembly and end-of-line testing, supplying a vehicle assembly plant. The Process Engineer will be responsible for equipment installation and commissioning, process qualification, run-at-rate, PPAP, Start of Production (SOP), and ramp-up to full-volume production. Candidates will take ownership of a specific process area—stator, rotor, motor assembly and test, gearbox, or inverter and power electronics—or function as a cross-process generalist.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage processes for the assigned perimeter, including process flow, cycle-time allocation, parameter windows, control plans, PFMEA, work instructions, and change control.
- Lead equipment commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), process capability studies, and qualification runs; define and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) activities.
- Deliver Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements for the assigned area.
- Engineer to takt by balancing stations and eliminating bottlenecks and micro-stops.
- Drive production ramp-up by analyzing scrap, rework, first-pass yield, and downtime data to prioritize improvements and close gaps to full-rate production.
- Act as the first-line technical escalation point for production, applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, and Shainin.
- Make containment decisions in collaboration with Production and Quality teams.
- Design and validate error-proofing mechanisms, including poka-yoke, in-line verification, torque and force-displacement monitoring, and part traceability.
- Build the process data foundation through Statistical Process Control (SPC) on critical characteristics, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and traceability systems.
- Support customer and supplier interfaces, including Just-in-Time/Just-in-Sequence (JIT/JIS) delivery, customer-specific requirements, supplier PPAP for incoming components, and problem-solving with equipment and component suppliers.
- Contribute to safety and compliance activities related to high-voltage work practices, permanent magnet handling, press and laser safety, chemical and adhesive handling, ergonomics, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) risk assessments.
- Train and coach production technicians and operators on process fundamentals, critical parameters, troubleshooting, and reaction plans.
Candidate Profile and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant manufacturing process engineering role. This position requires an individual who is comfortable operating with ambiguity and incomplete data, demonstrating a strong bias toward the production floor by actively investigating and building conclusions from evidence. Rigorous attention to documentation and change control is essential for effective process transfer and scaling. The role demands a collaborative approach across functions and cultures, with the ability to maintain and defend a technical position under pressure while working as part of an international, multicultural team embedded onsite with the client.
Project Duration and Work Environment
This position requires full relocation to and residence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the project's duration, from September 2026 through December 2027. It mandates a 100% onsite presence at the client’s manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia and is not a remote, hybrid, fly-in/fly-out, or rotational assignment. Candidates must be prepared to establish temporary residence for the project period. Regular work will occur within production areas, dry rooms, and cleanrooms, necessitating adherence to associated PPE and gowning requirements. During commissioning, qualification, SOP, and ramp phases, flexibility in working hours and periodic shift or weekend support will be expected. International assignment and work authorization requirements will apply based on candidate eligibility and project needs.
Desired Outcomes
- Successful qualification of the process area, passing run-at-rate, and timely submission and approval of PPAP according to customer timing.
- Maintenance of net cycle time within takt allocation for stations within the perimeter, with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) meeting or exceeding the ramp plan.
- First-pass yield adherence to the planned ramp curve, with top scrap and rework drivers ranked, understood, and actively addressed.
- Zero customer line stoppages attributable to the process area, with any escape having a verified root cause and permanent countermeasure.
- Complete, current, and actively used process documentation, including control plans, PFMEA, work instructions, parameter windows, and reaction plans.
- Production technicians within the area capable of independent process operation and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Requires 5-10 Years experience
