About the Outfitting/Ship Fitter Role

Greenland Group is seeking a dedicated Outfitting/Ship Fitter to join their team at Zamil Shipyard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is crucial for ensuring the precise fitting of metal materials according to specifications and measurements within shipbuilding projects. The role requires a professional with extensive experience in marine fabrication and fitting, contributing to the structural integrity and functionality of vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, frames, vent heads, handrails, bulwarks, manholes, and ceiling sheets, bracing them in position within the hull for riveting or welding.
  • Lay out part positions on metal using blueprints or templates, utilizing scribes and hand tools.
  • Locate and mark reference lines, including center, buttock, and frame lines.
  • Position parts within the ship's hull, collaborating with a Rigger.
  • Align parts using various tools such as jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
  • Mark drilling locations and install temporary fasteners to secure parts for welding or riveting.
  • Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members like doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.
  • Prepare molds and templates for the fabrication of nonstandard parts.
  • Roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery, including plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines.
  • Install, repair, and fabricate thin sheet and small assemblies as per work orders, drawings, and supervisor instructions to fulfill Outfitting section assignments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on equipment, tools, and machinery within the Outfitting department to prevent damage.
  • Operate sheet rolling, bending, cutting, drilling, and grinding machines proficiently.

Safety Compliance and Equipment Proficiency

  • Maintain a thorough awareness of all health and safety rules applicable to assigned tasks and tools, ensuring safe working practices are consistently observed.
  • Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of all tools and equipment required for assigned works.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant outfitting or ship fitting role.
  • Adequate knowledge and expertise in outfitting/ship fitting are critical for ensuring safety and proper execution of works.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the oil and gas industry environment is essential for this position.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The Outfitting/Ship Fitter will operate under the direct supervision of the Ship Fitter Foreman / Supervisor, taking directives for daily tasks and project execution. This role involves internal collaboration with team members and supervisors within the shipyard environment to ensure coordinated and efficient operations.

Compensation

This full-time position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from Tk. 59,000 to Tk. 72,000.
