Pharmacy Technician

About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications and maintaining accurate patient records and charges. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
• Complete dispensing functions in the Pharmacy area, verifying prescriptions with correct labeling as confirmed by the Pharmacist, promptly for Inpatient, * Admixture, and Outpatient services.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and well-stocked work area for unit dose and * Admixture.
• Oversee dispensing functions in the centralized * Admixture Program, including aseptically prepared TPN solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other medications for * therapy, ensuring proper and prompt labeling under direct Pharmacist supervision.
• Ensure effective delivery of floor stock medications to and from Inpatient units.
• Prepare 24-hour card-fillers.
• Record daily dispensed medications, maintain records, and inform the Pharmacist about expiring drugs according to department policy.
• Educate patients and families as needed, implementing the patient and family education process as outlined in policy NSP-GEN-014, including documentation in patient medical records.
• Involve patients and families in their plan of care, respecting their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching using methods appropriate to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Allocate necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education provided, with appropriate documentation.
• Comply with the hospital dress code.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reporting Structure

The Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the Head of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family education principles.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a hospital and clinic setting focused on delivering superior medical care.
