About the Internship

Amazon is seeking a Physical Security Specialist Intern to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time, 12-week internship designed as a potential pathway to full-time employment. Interns demonstrating strong performance may be considered for a full-time Security Specialist position, subject to available roles and business needs. The role is based at a data center facility in a remote location without public transportation access, requiring a valid driving license and personal transportation for daily commute.

Role Overview

The Security Specialist Intern will work within the Data Center Security team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), focusing on the physical security operations of Amazon's data centers. This hands-on role involves direct engagement with people, systems, and processes to maintain critical infrastructure safety. The intern will contribute to operational security excellence, prepare reports and presentations, and communicate with management regarding physical security operations. This role does not involve cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations, patrols, and planning.
• Analyze security metrics and data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Suggest enhancements for electronic surveillance systems and access controls.
• Assist in developing and delivering guidance to data center occupants on reducing false alarms.
• Prepare reports and presentations on the status of physical security operations for management.
• Support the planning and coordination of security-related projects.
• Aid in incident documentation and follow-up processes.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 0-1 year of experience.
• Ability to commit to a full-time (40 hours per week) internship for 12 consecutive weeks.
• Availability to report to work on-site daily, typically Sunday through Thursday.
• Possession of a valid driving license and access to personal transportation.

Work Environment and Team

The intern will join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This diverse team includes engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. The role involves collaboration across AWS to maintain high standards for safety and security within data centers.
