About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Principal Commercial Officer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves managing contracts, supporting commercial strategies, and contributing to overall business effectiveness within assigned areas.

Role Purpose and Context

The Principal Commercial Officer plays a central role in ensuring the smooth and successful conclusion of negotiations and the effective management of business agreements. This involves a focus on contract and subcontract documentation, financial targets, and risk analysis to support effective business decision-making and the resolution of issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce comprehensive contract/subcontract documentation for assigned areas, adhering to BAE Systems Saudi Arabia requirements and procedures.
• Lead or actively participate in contract/subcontract negotiations, in line with DOA, to facilitate successful conclusions.
• Manage subcontracts and support contract management, ensuring efficient resolution of issues.
• Implement and support pricing and payment strategies and policies in assigned areas.
• Support and implement financial targets and budgetary management strategies.
• Identify potential risks, conduct analyses, and assessments to minimize risk.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure effective management of business agreements.
• Support commercial issues to facilitate effective business decision-making and dispute resolution, including customer complaints.
• Monitor sub-contractors’ commercial activities, including terms and conditions and price negotiations, to meet contractual obligations.
• Lead, develop, and motivate assigned staff to ensure delivery of responsibilities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Functional Governance and Commercial Manuals.
• Research new commercial developments and assess their advantage to the company.
• Liaise with internal and external customers as appropriate.
• Support interfaces with Finance, Legal, HR, and Group Tax for effective contracting and pricing models.
• Support RBA activities.
• Conduct tender analysis and administration.
• Produce Commercial plans in support of LCM.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Approximately 6+ years of commercial or procurement experience.
• Good knowledge of business unit financial, commercial, and procurement policies.
• Proven track record of contributing to the management of contractual issues.
• Thorough understanding and comprehension of Commercial Contracts & Law.
• Demonstrated negotiating skills.
• Extensive experience dealing with both domestic and international suppliers.
• Accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or the International Association for Contracts and Commercial Management (IACCM), or an equivalent professional body.
